Whoever posted there are 10 memoir agents did not look at this page closely, there are actually 7 and only 6 are in the U.S. I have been on Agents blogs today reading ludicrous statements they post to writers claiming there are hundreds of agents out there. This absurd statement is also included in the form of an email response agents send to writers. It simply isn't true. By the time you locate the New York team and select your genre, you have only so many agents; as you read their interests the margin narrows. And I don't care what reference book you look at, I own a copy of Jeff Herman's Guide. There simply isn't an enormous array to choose from, it's an old boys network, and only so many are allowed to play in the game. If more agents understood what it's like to be on the other side, they might not be so inclined to allow a good idea pass because they placed it into the hands of an underage, underpaid and inexperienced assistant.

What are the criteria behind all these Top Ten Agents for ______ lists? If this were a legitimate blog you would think the writer who appears to be anonymous would give his or her name and say more about it than just list the agents. I notice that some of the comments on other genre lists indicate the agents don't even represent that genre much less are the top agents whatever that's supposed to mean. People like me who are really trying to find the top memoir agents are apparently being taken in and wasting their time as the blogger never replies back to address these issues. Thanks for getting my hopes up and wasting my time.
